Technician
James Houghton
Bio
In the 2Blades group myself and the research team are leading research into the development of plant resistance against pathogens that annually decimate global food production. We are investigating resistance genes to nullify the effects of plant pathogens; allowing for increased crop yields and more affordable produce, saving time, money, land usage and better health. My role ensures that my team’s research can be carried out by growing and preparing plant/bacterial cells/DNA/proteins, as well as screening/analysing samples to help direct further investigation.
Plant science is a relatively new field for me, however it makes my work that more intriguing, learning new techniques and analytical methods whilst still being able to transfer my own knowledge to progress the project.
