The coevolution of plants and pathogens is what fascinates me. I am especially interested in how plants detect pathogens and how pathogens on the other hand escape recognition. By studying molecular plant-pathogen interactions, I aim to understand which transitions in these interactions are leading to resistant or susceptible plants.
My research is focused on improving PRR-mediated immune responses in potato towards Phytophthora infestans. By combining insights of receptor-ligand coevolution and AI-based protein structure predictions, I aim to expand the recognition specificity of the receptor.
