Bio
I am a PhD student within Professor Nick Talbot’s group and am interested in plant-pathogen interactions. My research at TSL focuses on investigating effector function in the blast fungus Magnaporthe oryzae. I aim to do this through identifying structural homology of effectors with known proteins and determining in-planta effector interactors. This uses a combination of structural biology, molecular genetics, and bioinformatics.
Prior to starting my PhD at TSL I studied at the University of Birmingham, obtaining a MSci degree in Biological Sciences. My Master’s research focused on determining the mobility of a Starship transposable element known as Sanctuary.
